Hood-Tangredi Wedding (June 2011)

Above the City

Kress Terrace sits on top of a building in the heart of downtown Greensboro, and it turns out a rooftop is exactly the right place for a wedding. The city spreads out in every direction, the O.Henry Hotel standing in the background like it has always been part of the scenery, and the sky does whatever it wants. On this particular evening it gave everyone a dramatic cloudy sunset for the first dance.

Chris and Chris got married up there with their wedding party around them, navy and white and blue roses against the Greensboro skyline. The ceremony was simple and direct. The reception took over the whole terrace, guests spread across the tile and gathered around the glass pyramid skylight at the center of the roof. The indoor space handled the rest.

I worked with one of the grooms and offered to shoot the day. That is usually how it starts, one person knowing another person, and then you end up on a rooftop watching two people get married above the city.
