Jocelyn's Graduation (June 2017)
Jocelyn, Class of 2017
Some trips home are planned around holidays. This one was planned around Jocelyn. My sister’s oldest was graduating from High Point Central, and I was not about to miss it.
We spent part of the day together in the backyard taking portraits before the ceremony. That night, the stadium filled with navy gowns and families craning to spot their graduate. I found her in the crowd just as she turned and found me.
The last time I photographed her with her mother and sister, I was getting ready to leave North Carolina. Now I was the one coming back, watching the oldest of my sister’s two children walk across that stage into whatever comes next. In between, she had grown up while I was away.
