Warehouse 29 - Greensboro, North Carolina (May 2009)
Full Strength
May 2009 was a busy month at Warehouse 29, and the energy in these photos reflects it. The Triad Pride celebration at the end of the month gave the community something to build toward, and the performances throughout May carried that momentum.
By this point I had been shooting at the club regularly for several months, and the difference in the work shows. The eye was getting more deliberate, the compositions more confident, the ability to find the shot in difficult light more instinctive. A full roster of performers gave me plenty to work with. Gabrielle Berlyn, Envee Sinz, Eden Parque-Divine, Tia Chanella, Big Shirli Stevenz, Fuscia Rage, Neely O'Hara, Monique Chanel, Malayia Chanel, Jessica Chanel, Bree Lamour, Versage Holt, and Lawanda Jackson all took the stage across these shows, each one bringing something different and demanding something different from the camera.
This was the Warehouse 29 community at full strength.
