Warehouse 29 - Greensboro, North Carolina (June 1010)
Pride at the End of the Run
Warehouse 29 hosted Greensboro's Triad Pride celebration in June 2010, and the room was ready for it. The venue had seen a lot of big nights over the years, but Pride brought something different, a crowd that came dressed for it, a stage that meant business, and an energy that filled every corner of the building.
The lineup included Jessica Jade, Tryna Turnum, Arabia Knight-Addams, Taylor Knight-Addams, Simba R Hall, Devante Jackson, Tia Chanella, Tiffany Bonet, Felicity Knight-Addams, My'Kel Knight-Addams, and Malayia Chanel among others. Taylor worked the floor twice over, first in an Egyptian production number flanked by columns and palm fronds, then later in neon green fringe that caught every light in the room. Arabia bent into a blue-green spotlight with a microphone and held the whole place still.
Tryna Turnum posed in the stone entryway in full rainbow from crown to knee sock, Devante Jackson grinned wide under a white fedora, and Tiffany Bonet took the stage alongside Arabia and Tia Chanella for what turned out to be a night worth remembering. I did not know it at the time, but this was the last show I would photograph at Warehouse 29.
