Ashley and Everett, Downtown

When Ashley asked me to shoot her engagement photos, I suggested she and Everett meet me downtown. We had no shot list and no set route, just the three of us walking the streets of Memphis and stopping wherever something caught our eye.

Downtown gave us plenty to work with: old storefronts, trolley tracks, the riverfront, and murals so bold they almost became a third subject. Ashley and Everett showed up dressed in matching white, which made every wall of color around them feel like it had been painted just for that afternoon.

What I remember most is how little direction they needed. They laughed easily and leaned into each other without being asked, and the city did the rest. It was simply two people who were clearly ready for forever, letting Memphis be the backdrop.
