Mallory's First Birthday! (September 2016)
Mallory Turns One
A first birthday is really a celebration for everyone who got the family through that first year, and Mallory’s party felt exactly like that. A friend asked me to bring my camera, and the backyard filled up fast with family, neighbors, and kids who had plenty of energy to burn.
The theme was Minnie Mouse from top to bottom, right down to the party favors with Mallory’s face on every bag. The kids lined up for face paint, the adults found their seats in the shade, and the birthday girl took it all in from whichever pair of arms happened to be holding her.
She will not remember any of it, and that is part of why it mattered to be there. Someday these photos will be the only way she knows how loved she was from the very beginning.
