Atlanta, Georgia (September 2019)
Many Atlantas
Over a few weekends, I kept exploring Atlanta, this time wandering into the neighborhoods that give the city its character.
Little Five Points was loud, colorful and wonderfully strange, full of murals and storefronts that refuse to blend in. Oakland Cemetery was the opposite: quiet paths, old monuments and a rose garden, with the skyline rising just beyond the gates. At Ponce City Market, white pumpkins were piled up for the season, and the Beltline carried me past murals and new buildings. As night fell, I found my way back to the skyline, glowing from end to end.
Every corner of Atlanta seemed to have its own personality. The more neighborhoods I explored, the more I understood that this city isn’t one place but many, all stitched together.
