Memphis in Bloom
I came back to Memphis to see my godson, and spring had arrived ahead of me. With a little free time, I took my camera out to see the city in bloom.
The magnolias were open and the pear trees were covered in white, bright against a deep blue sky. I wandered through Midtown, past the tall towers along Poplar, and over to Overton Park, where the gates frame the old trees beyond. I spent part of the day at East High School, a grand red brick building where a polished Mustang head stands guard out front.
The visit was about Aries, but the city made sure I noticed it too. After a winter away, Memphis looked like it was starting over, and I was glad to be there to see it.
