The Working Waterfront
Some of my favorite outings in Baltimore were the simple ones: a camera, a free day and a neighborhood I wanted to know better. This time it was Fells Point.
Cobblestone streets wind past brick rowhouses and old warehouses that once served the busy port. Boats line the docks, the pier reaches out over the harbor, and the glass towers of Harbor East rise just across the water. A faded painted sign for Rukert Terminals still clings to one warehouse wall, a quiet reminder of the working waterfront.
Fells Point wears its history right out in the open. Every corner feels lived in, and that is exactly what makes it worth slowing down for.
