Hopkins to the Harbor

This walk took me across a wide stretch of Baltimore, from Johns Hopkins through Old Town and downtown to the water. Even after months of exploring, the city still had plenty left to show me.

The historic dome of Johns Hopkins Hospital rises above a tree lined walkway. Nearby in Old Town, vacant buildings stand weathered and boarded, many of them carrying murals and painted messages that call for justice and love. Downtown, City Hall and the Bromo Seltzer Tower hold their own among the glass towers, and the Inner Harbor sits quietly nearby. Along the way, a man let his dog romp across a patch of grass, a burst of pure joy in the middle of the city.

Baltimore holds its beauty and its struggles side by side. Walking through both, I came to love it a little more for its honesty.
