Dylan (November 2020)

An Afternoon at Idlewild

My friend Dylan wanted to hang out, and I was looking for a new subject for some outdoor portraits. He agreed, and we spent an afternoon at Idlewild Park in Reno making photos together.

The park gave us plenty to work with. We moved between garden paths, stone steps, a white gazebo overlooking the city, and the banks of the Truckee River, where old tree stumps and the flowing water made a natural setting. Dylan’s deep red sweater stood out against every backdrop, and the warm afternoon light did the rest.

He was relaxed and easygoing in front of the camera, and his natural smile came through in nearly every frame. Some of the best portraits happen when two friends simply spend an afternoon together, and this was one of those days.
