Nothing Lasts Forever

With Aries staying in Richmond for a few months, a day trip down from Baltimore was an easy choice. Between catching up with him, I spent time getting to know a city I had never photographed before.

The James River runs wide and calm past the skyline, and old brick warehouses still line the streets near Shockoe Bottom. Murals seemed to be around every corner, with bold portraits and bursts of color stretching across whole walls. One painted wall summed up the day better than I could: Nothing Lasts Forever.

Visiting family has a way of turning a quick drive into something more. Richmond gave me history, color and a few good hours with my godson, and that was plenty.
