Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (February 2026)

Cold Liberty

Philadelphia in February is a different city than most people imagine. The crowds thin out, the air bites, and a fresh layer of snow turns some of the most historically significant ground in America into something almost otherworldly quiet.

I was in Pennsylvania for work and made the decision to extend my stay by a day just for this. Real snow is not something my camera has had much opportunity to meet, and I was not going to let that chance pass.

I kept my focus on the area in and around Independence Hall and Old City along the Delaware River, where the weight of American history is present in every building and every streetcorner. Shooting these structures under snow felt like seeing them the way they were never meant to be seen, stripped of the summer foot traffic and given back to the cold and the light.
