Queen City Reflections

After Columbia, I spent the night in Charlotte catching up with friends. The next day I took my camera downtown before heading north to High Point to spend the week with my sister.

Uptown Charlotte is all glass and ambition, with a skyline that keeps reaching higher. In Marshall Park, the towers reflect in the pond, and the side streets open into fountains, gardens and sculpture plazas. Bank of America Stadium is guarded by snarling bronze panthers, and the NASCAR Hall of Fame shows how proudly the city wears its racing roots.

Charlotte felt like a city still figuring out how big it wants to be, and I liked that about it. With friends behind me and family just up the road, it was the last stop before home.
