Greensboro, North Carolina (June 2019)
The Gate City
Since I was home, I wanted to finally give the Gate City a proper look through my lens. I had spent a lot of time in Greensboro over the years, but I still found things that surprised me.
Downtown, I walked from Center City Park past old brick storefronts, murals, and the Carolina Theatre’s marquee. The O. Henry tribute stopped me, a giant open book in bronze honoring the writer who grew up here. Beyond downtown, Blandwood Mansion stands quietly among the trees, and the skyline looks bigger from the edges of the city than I’d ever noticed.
Sometimes it takes a camera to really see a place you thought you knew. Greensboro had been waiting for me to look a little closer, and I’m glad I finally did.
