Norcross, Georgia (April 2019)
Greetings from Norcross
A few days a week, my work took me to an office in Norcross, just outside Atlanta. The more time I spent there, the more the old town center won me over, so one weekend I came back with my camera to capture it for posterity.
Historic Norcross has the kind of charm that is hard to find so close to a big city. A Victorian turret rises above the trees, and the railroad still runs right through town. A giant Greetings from Norcross postcard is painted on old red brick, and someone had built a whimsical sculpture out of scrap metal beside the tracks. Spring had arrived, too, with redbuds in bloom and bees busy among the flowers.
Some places you only pass through on the way to work. Norcross was one I wanted to remember, and slowing down long enough to really see it felt like the right way to do that.
