Columbus is a city that rewards the photographer who slows down and looks. As the capital of Ohio, downtown carries the weight of that history in its architecture, its libraries, its fountains, and its churches. The Short North adds a different energy entirely, with its storefronts, street art, and the kind of creative density that makes a neighborhood feel alive.
I had been to Columbus a dozen times before this shoot, and had even pointed a camera at it once before. But this was the first time I moved through it entirely on my own terms, with no agenda other than to see what the city wanted to show me.
What surprised me most was the North Market area downtown. I had never spent time there before, and the views it offered of the downtown skyline stopped me in my tracks. Sometimes a city saves its best angles for the places you haven't looked yet.
