Familiar and New
There is something particular about returning to a place you already know. The streets are familiar, the buildings unchanged, but your eyes have moved on and come back different. This was my first time out with the camera after returning to Memphis, and I spent it walking more of downtown than I ever had before, pushing past the corners I already knew into the ones I had never quite gotten to.
Memphis welcomed me back the way it always does. Quietly, on its own terms, with something new waiting just past what you thought you had already seen. The architecture, the alleys, the murals, and the light coming through the trees on Main Street all felt like a city reintroducing itself to someone it remembered.
Familiar and new. That is the only way to describe it.
